Flights and Connections from the USA to Ibiza

The practical guide to routing, seasons, luggage and arriving ready to view.

The single most useful shift in planning US to Ibiza travel is to stop thinking in airlines and start thinking in hubs. Ibiza has no nonstop flights from the United States, so every journey is a transatlantic leg plus a short hop, and the hub you connect through determines almost everything about how the trip feels.

Madrid and Barcelona are the year-round answers: both typically have nonstops from several major US cities, operated by American and European carriers alike, and both offer frequent onward flights to Ibiza taking about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. New York and Miami to Madrid are among the longest-standing year-round US to Spain nonstops flying. In summer the field widens: Lisbon, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Zurich and Rome all typically connect to Ibiza densely between May and October. From November through April the island's schedule thins, and Madrid or Barcelona becomes the reliable routing. Always check current schedules; routes and frequencies shift by season.

The practical rules

  • Book the whole itinerary on one ticket so luggage checks through to IBZ and a delayed first leg is the airline's problem, not yours
  • Allow a generous connection window in peak summer
  • East Coast door to door: typically 12 to 15 hours; West Coast: longer, so consider breaking the trip
  • US citizens need no visa for stays up to 90 days in any 180

Arriving for a viewing trip

Travel light. A house-hunting trip needs a few days of warm-weather clothes, comfortable shoes for walking plots and terraces, and a folder you will mostly keep on your phone. A carry-on and one checked bag is plenty, and less luggage makes the hub connection effortless.

Ibiza's airport also handles private aviation, and some clients use a private flight for the final leg from the hub, which turns the connection into a matter of walking across a terminal. It is an option, not a necessity; the scheduled hop is short and frequent.

However you arrive, Hoy Hoy Ibiza works around your flights. Your advisor coordinates viewings around your arrival time, sequences several consecutive days so one trip covers the full shortlist, arranges airport pickup where useful, and handles everything after the trip remotely, from negotiation through to completion.
