Getting to Ibiza from the USA

For American property buyers, Ibiza is closer than it may seem.

Today, most journeys from the United States

Today, most journeys from the United States to Ibiza involve one connection through a major European airport. From May 2027, that is expected to change significantly, with United Airlines announcing the first nonstop scheduled service between Newark/New York and Ibiza.

But getting to Ibiza is only one part of the journey.

At Hoy Hoy Ibiza Real Estate, we can facilitate your complete Ibiza property trip from start to finish. Before you leave the United States, we can begin your property search, prepare a focused selection of homes and build your viewing itinerary. Once your travel dates are confirmed, we can help coordinate the practical details of your stay through Hoy Hoy Ibiza and our local network, from airport transfers and private drivers to accommodation, restaurants and other services you may need while you are here.

The idea is simple: when you arrive in Ibiza, everything should already be in motion.

Can You Fly Directly from the USA to Ibiza?

From 31 May 2027, United Airlines plans to operate a seasonal nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Ibiza Airport (IBZ).

The announced route will operate four times per week using United's Airbus A321XLR. United has stated that it will be the only U.S. airline operating nonstop between the United States and Ibiza when the service begins.

For buyers based in New York and the wider East Coast, this represents a significant change. Ibiza will become accessible directly from the New York metropolitan area without the need to connect elsewhere in Europe.

For buyers elsewhere in the United States, Newark can also provide a potential gateway to Ibiza through United's wider domestic network.

The new service is scheduled to begin in 2027 and remains subject to government approval. Flight schedules can change, so current availability should always be confirmed directly with the airline.

How Do You Get to Ibiza from the USA Today?

Until the nonstop Newark–Ibiza service begins, most American buyers reach Ibiza with one European connection.

Madrid and Barcelona are natural gateways because both have onward connections to Ibiza. Depending on your departure city and airline, other European airports can also provide convenient connections.

Ibiza Airport's current network includes Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Lisbon, Milan, Rome and Zurich, among many other European destinations.

This gives American travellers considerable flexibility when planning a property trip. You can travel directly through to Ibiza or combine your visit with time elsewhere in Spain or Europe.

For property buyers, we recommend looking at the complete journey rather than simply choosing the shortest advertised connection. A comfortable itinerary matters when you are travelling across the Atlantic and potentially beginning property viewings shortly after arrival.

How Well Connected Is Ibiza?

Ibiza may be an island, but it is exceptionally well connected to Europe.

Ibiza Airport handled more than nine million passengers in 2025 and has extensive connections across Spain and Europe. Madrid, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca are particularly important domestic connections, while the international network expands considerably during the main season.

This connectivity is important when considering Ibiza as a second home.

Owning a property here does not only give you access to Ibiza. It places you within easy reach of many European cities, making it possible to combine time on the island with business, family or leisure travel elsewhere in Europe.

For American owners who spend extended periods on this side of the Atlantic, Ibiza can therefore function as much more than a holiday destination.

Is Ibiza Easy to Reach Outside the Summer Season?

Yes, although the flight network changes throughout the year.

Ibiza Airport is highly seasonal. During spring, summer and early autumn, the number of direct international routes increases substantially. During winter, there are fewer direct international services, while connections through mainland Spain remain important.

For someone considering owning a home in Ibiza throughout the year, this distinction is worth understanding.

The island itself does not disappear when summer ends. Ibiza has a permanent community, schools, restaurants, businesses, healthcare, sports and everyday services throughout the year. What changes is primarily the volume of visitors and the number of seasonal international flights.

For many owners, that quieter side of Ibiza is part of the attraction.

How Should an American Buyer Plan a Property Trip to Ibiza?

A serious property trip should begin before you leave the United States.

Flying thousands of miles and only then beginning to decide what to view wastes valuable time. Before you travel, we want to understand your budget, preferred property type, lifestyle, locations, priorities and what you ultimately want your Ibiza home to give you.

Through our Buyer Representation service, Hoy Hoy Ibiza Real Estate can begin researching the market while you are still at home.

We can review available properties, speak with other agencies and owners, explore relevant private opportunities, request additional information and narrow the search before you arrive.

Where appropriate, we can also use video calls and remote property previews to help determine whether a property deserves a place on your final viewing schedule.

By the time you board your flight, your Ibiza property search should already be well underway.

Can Hoy Hoy Ibiza Facilitate My Entire Property Trip?

Yes.

For American buyers travelling specifically to explore the Ibiza property market, we can facilitate the trip from arrival to departure.

Once your dates are confirmed, we can help coordinate the practical side of your visit through Hoy Hoy Ibiza and our local network. Depending on your requirements, this can include accommodation, airport transfers, private drivers, restaurants and other local services.

At the same time, Hoy Hoy Ibiza Real Estate coordinates the property side of the trip.

Your viewing schedule can be prepared in advance. Routes can be planned logically around the island. Appointments can be coordinated with listing agents and owners. Time can be built into the itinerary to explore the locations themselves rather than simply rushing from one property to another.

If meetings with independent professionals are useful during your stay, we can also help coordinate introductions to relevant lawyers, tax advisers, finance specialists, architects, designers or other local experts.

Instead of organising every element separately, you have one local team helping coordinate the experience.

More Than a Series of Property Viewings

Buying a home in Ibiza is not simply about finding the best house.

It is about finding the right combination of property, location and lifestyle.

A beautiful villa can be wrong for you if the location does not suit the way you want to live. Conversely, discovering the part of Ibiza where you feel most at home can completely change the direction of your property search.

That is why we do not believe a property trip should consist of driving from one listing to another all day.

We want you to experience the areas you are considering.

If you are looking around Marina Botafoch or Ibiza Town, spend time there. If you are considering the southwest, experience Cala Jondal, Es Cubells, Sant Josep and the surrounding coastline. If Santa Gertrudis or the north appeals to you, understand what everyday life there actually feels like.

The beaches, villages, restaurants, marinas, countryside, schools, sports facilities and communities surrounding a property all form part of the decision.

This is where the combination of Hoy Hoy Ibiza Real Estate and the wider Hoy Hoy Ibiza platform becomes particularly valuable.

We understand the property search, but we can also help you discover the Ibiza that exists around the property.

Can You Arrange a Private Driver for Property Viewings?

Yes. Through the wider Hoy Hoy Ibiza network, we can help arrange transportation and private-driver services when required.

For a focused viewing trip, having a driver can be particularly useful. You can move between appointments without worrying about directions, parking or navigating unfamiliar roads, while using the time between properties to discuss what you have just seen.

It also allows the property itinerary to become part of your introduction to the island.

Rather than simply entering an address into a navigation system, we can explain the areas you are travelling through and why one location may suit your requirements better than another.

Can You Help with Accommodation and Restaurants?

Yes.

Through Hoy Hoy Ibiza and our local network, we can help connect you with accommodation, restaurants and other services relevant to your stay.

Where you stay can also be useful strategically.

If you have never spent significant time in Ibiza before, staying in or close to an area you are seriously considering can help you understand it beyond a short property viewing. What does the area feel like in the morning? How long does it actually take to reach Ibiza Town? Where would you have dinner? Where would you exercise? Where would your children go to school? How does the location feel after dark?

Those experiences can be surprisingly important when deciding where to buy.

What Happens When I Arrive at Ibiza Airport?

Ibiza Airport is approximately 7.5 kilometres from Ibiza Town and is particularly convenient for the south of the island.

If your property trip has been arranged with us in advance, your arrival should be straightforward.

Depending on the itinerary we have created together, that could mean a transfer or driver waiting for you, checking into your accommodation and beginning the property programme at an agreed time.

There should be no need to land, open a property portal and start organising appointments.

We want the important work to have happened before you arrive.

How Many Days Should I Spend in Ibiza When Looking for Property?

There is no single ideal length because every search is different.

A buyer who already knows Ibiza and has narrowed the search to a specific area may require less time than someone visiting the island seriously for the first time.

What matters more is the quality of the preparation.

A carefully selected group of properties can tell you much more than seeing a large number of loosely matched listings. We also recommend allowing enough space between viewings to discuss properties properly and experience the locations.

The objective is not to see the maximum possible number of houses.

The objective is to return to the United States with a much clearer understanding of what you want to buy, where you want to buy it and, ideally, which property you want to pursue.

Can I Meet Lawyers and Other Professionals During My Trip?

Yes.

If you are seriously considering a purchase, your time in Ibiza can also be used to establish the professional relationships you may need during the acquisition.

Through our network, we can help introduce you to relevant independent professionals. Depending on your situation, that may include a Spanish property lawyer, tax adviser, mortgage or finance specialist, architect, surveyor or other specialist.

Hoy Hoy Ibiza Real Estate does not replace independent legal, tax or technical advice. Our role is to help coordinate the property journey and make it easier for you to access the appropriate expertise when required.

This means that a well-planned property trip can move beyond simply looking at homes. You can begin putting the complete structure around your potential Ibiza purchase in place while you are here.

What Happens If I Find the Right Property During My Visit?

If you find a property you want to pursue, our buyer representation team can help you evaluate the opportunity and manage the commercial communication with the seller or seller's representative.

Your independent Spanish lawyer should then advise you on the legal aspects of the acquisition and conduct the appropriate legal due diligence before you make legally significant commitments.

If you return to the United States before the transaction is completed, much of the process can continue remotely with the appropriate legal and professional arrangements in place.

For the complete acquisition process, read our How to Buy Property in Ibiza from the USA and Buying Guide Ibiza.

What If I Do Not Find the Right Property During My First Trip?

Then we continue searching.

A property trip does not need to end with a purchase to be successful.

After several days on the island, your original requirements may become much clearer. You may discover that you prefer the west rather than the north, countryside rather than the coast, or proximity to Ibiza Town rather than complete privacy.

That information makes the next stage of the search more accurate.

Once you return to the United States, we remain in Ibiza. We can continue researching the market, reviewing new opportunities and keeping you informed when something relevant becomes available.

You do not have to restart the search every time you leave the island.

One Local Point of Contact from the USA to Ibiza

For an American buyer, purchasing property overseas involves more than finding a listing online.

There is the property search, travel, accommodation, transportation, viewings, locations, professional introductions, negotiation and eventually everything involved in owning a home thousands of miles from your primary residence.

Our approach is to make that journey easier to manage.

Hoy Hoy Ibiza Real Estate handles the property search and buyer representation. The wider Hoy Hoy Ibiza network helps connect the experience around it.

Before you travel, we prepare.

When you arrive, we are here.

When you return to the United States, the search and support can continue.
